Chevrolet SSR VATS Disable / Delete Service

If your Chevrolet SSR will not start due to a failed VATS key or ignition problem, the Vehicle Anti-Theft System (VATS) is often the cause. How VATS Works

The Chevrolet SSR roadster pickup was equipped with GM’s Vehicle Anti-Theft System, which requires a resistor chip in the ignition key. If the correct resistance is not detected, the ECM/PCM disables fuel and spark to prevent starting. Our VATS delete service removes this dependency, restoring normal plug-and-play operation.

Security Light Woes

After VATS delete, the security light may remain illuminated on some SSR dashboards. If this happens, the only solution is to remove the bulb or LED from the cluster.

Plug-and-Play Installation

Most customers can install a VATS-deleted ECM/PCM with no additional programming. In rare cases, a global DTC clear may be required before the SSR will start.
