A: You would have to ship us your ecu/pcm for use to flash and remove the PATS system from it. We would then ship it back to you.
If your Ford Explorer will not start after a PCM/ECU replacement, the Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) is often to blame. Our PATS disable and reset service permanently removes the immobilizer requirement from your PCM, allowing your Explorer to start and run without needing programmed keys or a matched PATS module.
Ford PCMs often include built-in PATS security, even if the vehicle was not originally equipped. Once a PCM has been “married” to a PATS module, it will always expect the immobilizer handshake before starting. Our PATS reset service clears this lock, restoring normal plug-and-play operation.
After PATS delete, the security light may remain illuminated on some Ford Explorer dashboards. If this occurs, the only solution is to remove the bulb or LED from the cluster.
Most customers can install a PATS-cleared PCM with no additional programming. In rare cases, a global DTC clear may be required before the Explorer will start.
