If your Chevrolet Suburban will not start due to a failed VATS key or ignition problem, the Vehicle Anti-Theft System (VATS) is often the cause. Our VATS disable and delete service permanently removes the immobilizer requirement from your ECM/PCM, allowing your Suburban to start and run without needing a resistor key or functioning VATS system.
The Chevrolet Suburban, like many GM SUVs, was built with the Vehicle Anti-Theft System requiring a resistor pellet in the ignition key. If the ECM/PCM does not detect the correct resistance, fuel and spark are disabled, preventing the SUV from starting. Our VATS delete service clears this dependency, restoring normal plug-and-play operation.
After VATS delete, the security light may remain illuminated on some Suburban dashboards. If this happens, the only solution is to remove the bulb or LED from the cluster.
Most customers can install a VATS-deleted ECM/PCM with no additional programming. In rare cases, a global DTC clear may be required before the SUV will start.
