1996–2000 Chrysler Cirrus Speed Limiter Removal / Raise Service
MoPower Calibrations offers professional Chrysler Cirrus speed limiter removal and speed limiter raise programming for the supported applications listed below. This is a mail-in PCM / ECU programming service that modifies the applicable factory-programmed vehicle-speed limiting parameters directly in the controller calibration.
No external speed-governor bypass box or permanent wiring modification is required for the calibration itself. MoPower works from the actual PCM strategy in your vehicle so the service remains vehicle-specific rather than a generic add-on solution.

Chrysler Cirrus Speed Limiter Removal
The factory PCM may contain a calibrated maximum vehicle-speed threshold. When the controller reaches that programmed threshold it can intervene to prevent further acceleration. MoPower's Chrysler Cirrus speed limiter removal service modifies the applicable vehicle-speed limiting parameters so the original programmed maximum-speed setting no longer imposes that factory threshold where supported by the calibration.
Customers may also search for this as Chrysler Cirrus speed governor removal, governor delete, top-speed limiter removal or top-speed governor removal. These phrases describe the same general customer intent; the actual work is performed by editing the applicable factory calibration parameters.
Raise the Chrysler Cirrus Speed Limiter
Complete removal is not required. MoPower can instead raise the factory speed limiter to a requested maximum speed where supported. Select Raise Factory Speed Limiter when ordering and enter the requested maximum speed in MPH.
Choosing a requested value does not guarantee the vehicle can physically reach that speed. It only requests a change to the electronic maximum-speed threshold.
1996–2000 Chrysler Cirrus
MoPower coverage for the Chrysler Cirrus begins with the 1996 model year and includes the 2.4L four-cylinder and 2.5L V6 engine families used during the supported production run. Early Chrysler controllers do not use the same calibration architecture as later CAN-bus Mopar applications, so this service is handled from the actual PCM strategy in the module you send.
Owners typically request this service when a modified or competition-oriented Cirrus encounters a programmed vehicle-speed threshold that no longer matches the intended application.
Why Owners Request This Service
- Change a factory-programmed vehicle-speed threshold that no longer matches a properly prepared vehicle
- Raise the maximum-speed setting while retaining an electronic limit
- Remove the applicable factory vehicle-speed restriction where supported
- Support closed-course, competition, off-road, export or other lawful applications
- Make the change inside the PCM calibration instead of adding an external bypass module
This Is a Speed Limiter Service — Not a Full Performance Tune
This product specifically changes the vehicle-speed limiter / speed-governor strategy. It does not by itself add horsepower.
Ignition timing, fueling, throttle response, torque management, transmission calibration, cooling fan settings, cylinder-deactivation strategy and other performance tables are not automatically changed. If your build requires additional calibration work, contact MoPower before ordering.
Speed Limiter vs. RPM / Rev Limiter
The vehicle-speed limiter and engine RPM / rev limiter are separate calibration functions. This service does not automatically raise or remove the engine RPM limiter.
How the Mail-In Service Works
- Select the correct model year.
- Select the engine installed in the vehicle.
- Choose Remove Factory Speed Limiter or Raise Factory Speed Limiter.
- If choosing Raise, enter the requested maximum speed in MPH.
- Enter the full 17-character VIN.
- Complete the order and ship the PCM / ECU to MoPower Calibrations.
- MoPower reads the controller, modifies the applicable vehicle-speed limiting parameters and verifies the programming process.
- The programmed controller is returned for installation in the vehicle.
What to Include With Your PCM
Include your name, order number, return address, phone/email, VIN, model year, engine size and requested speed-limiter setting. If the PCM is a replacement module, is not original to the vehicle or has previously been tuned or modified, include that information as well.
Important Tire Speed Rating & Vehicle Safety Notice
Raising or removing an electronic speed limiter does not increase the safe mechanical operating speed of the vehicle. The original limiter may reflect factory tire specifications, drivetrain configuration and the manufacturer's intended operating envelope.
The vehicle owner is responsible for ensuring the tires, wheels, brakes, suspension, steering, drivetrain and all other components are properly rated, maintained and suitable for the speeds at which the vehicle will be operated. Never exceed the speed rating of the tires installed on the vehicle.
Does Removing the Limiter Guarantee a Higher Top Speed?
No. Removing an electronic limiter eliminates one programmed restriction. Actual top speed still depends on engine output, gearing, aerodynamic drag, tire diameter, vehicle weight, drivetrain losses, mechanical condition and operating conditions.
Important Use Disclaimer
This calibration service is intended for properly prepared vehicles used in closed-course competition, off-road, export or other lawful applications where modification of the factory vehicle-speed limiter is permitted.
Modified control modules and performance calibrations are installed and operated at the vehicle owner's risk. MoPower Calibrations LLC is not responsible for mechanical, electrical, tire, drivetrain or other vehicle damage resulting from operating a vehicle beyond its original factory limitations or component ratings.
The vehicle owner and operator are responsible for compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Not for sale or use in the State of California where prohibited.
The MoPower Difference
MoPower provides Chrysler PCM programming and module services across these platforms. Your Chrysler Cirrus speed-limiter service is performed directly in the applicable PCM calibration rather than through a generic add-on box or temporary wiring workaround.
Send us your Chrysler Cirrus PCM and let MoPower handle the programming.
